A letter from the Club President

To all UCRCS members.                                                                                                                               12/08/11

As I prepare to attend the 2011 Christmas banquet I would like to offer these thoughts as an outgoing president.

As I look back on being vice president for one year and president for two years I have many great memories being associated with our club.

The primary reason I joined the club was to fly! This has shifted however to enjoying the friendship and association with our members. Also the wealth of information regarding the hobby has improved my building skills. I have enjoyed working with new members regarding getting started in RC.

There have been a lot of good times that I can reflect on and I will have to say it has been an honor for me to serve.

I have very fond memories when Steve Mullis and I went to Prescott Elementary school and flew BNF airplanes for 3 classes of 4th graders. They were so precious.

I particularly enjoyed preparing meals for you all.

I have enjoyed your support and will now support our new officers.

Please join with me to give enthusiastic support for our new president, Gene Hankins and our new vice president John Ross.

Thank you Neil Ranft for being our secretary treasurer and for renewing your service for another year. You have been a superb asset to our club Neil.

Warm Regards, God Bless, Keep the blue up.

Ronald Bernhardt

JANUARY 2011

Hello Everyone!

Happy New Year !

Time sure fly's especially around the holidays. The year past has been fun, exciting and challenging. I am looking forward to a great 2011 flying season. I see the field is being used even in the most inclement weather. I was out the day after a 2" rain fall and we could still fly. You need water proof footwear however. I landed my electric Scratch on the deepest puddle along the East side of the field, "0h well", now I have to sort out whether the bat. or the motor was damaged, the RX is ok.

We have a few clean-up chores at the field, such as fixing the fence and removing some construction debris, will see if we can arrange some work time at the meeting.  But don't let this stop you if you have time and the urge before the meeting.  The puddles on the East side of the field should be drained using a spade to make shallow rounded drain ditches to the pasture. This should help keep water from beneath the fabric. This is easily accomplished when the puddles are present and the ground is mushy.

The shelter needs to be moved so the peak of the roof is inline with the fence and parallel to it, about 5' to 6' East. This will allow traffic past the shelter and between the sheds. As soon as the shelter is set, I can arrange to have gravel moved to make a good floor to keep our feet out of the mud.

Please come to the January meeting at the IWC facility and bring the following ideas:
PS.
Bring the projects that you have working on to our meeting.
Bring your show and tell items.

Looking forward to a great flying year,

Ron Bernhardt
